Flaunt What You've Got!
Okay, it's taken me several months to make this post, admittedly too long.
I'd like to start a conversation with you about new trends in plus size clothing. Some new things seem to be happening, and you might be able to shed light on whether my perceptions are accurate.
What I am seeing is that plus size women today want to show more of their curves than ever before. I am sensing a new body pride, an exciting trend toward more tailored clothes, more form-fitting apparel that shows off what a woman has rather than trying to hide her shape.
This development, if my perceptions are accurate, is thrilling to us at Big on Style. It signals to us a new body pride, a developing love of self in our customers. Ladies, we are beautiful and the world should know that! The standard of beauty in our society needs to broaden to include all kinds of bodies, all kinds of beauty.
Do you agree that this trend is happening? Are you part of this trend? How do you feel about clothing that shows your beautiful curves? Are you looking for more of that now? We'd love to converse with you about this...let us know what you think.
Meanwhile...flaunt what you've got!

I don't think it is a new development, just a new perception. When I was growing up there were a lot less plus size people - and most of them were older. As the Baby Boomers have hit middle age, the rate is higher and it is becoming increasingly higher in young adults.
The Boomer generation has always been more body concious and let's face it, young people like to dress stylish regardless of size.
The media is also helping make it more acceptable. Look at the popularity of Queen Latifah, plus-size models Toccarra & Emme, and the movie Phat Girlz.
Ya know, EVERYONE has some assets and some liabilities - that's just the way it is. No matter what size, you should play up the assets.
First of all, thanks for the opportunity to share and interact with other intelligent, gifted women (and maybe a few men) about topics that are important to many of us.
I am a plus size woman and am very comfortable in my skin, however, I am still a bit unsure about how much of it I want to show to the general public. Now when it comes to lingerie...LOOK OUT!!! In the bedroom with a special someone I am all about sensuality and FUN!
OOPS...I got distracted....anyway..I enjoy showing off my curves but I still like longer length tops. That is really my primary preference...low neck lines, curve hugging shirts, etc. THose are all good..but give me enough shirt to cover the 'abdominal apron' that I wear proudly but don't want to flaunt.
Your comments have been thought provoking and I look forward to more conversations.
Thanks
Becky
I LOVE these comments. Each woman has her way of dressing and, to my way of thinking, it's how she sees herself that counts the most. If I feel like I look good and am comfortable in my clothing,I address the world in a different, more confident and open way. Then we're cookin'!
Variety in style and shape of clothing is they key...we all need what works well for us!
I have to agree that the fashion world is finally starting to catch up with those of us who like to dress stylishly. I also like to show some curves but I enjoy the free flowing let me move around clothes that move with and around me. I just feel more feminine and beautiful in them. As you said, to each his/her own. I am so greatful to see the beautiful colors that are finally getting us out of the blacks and browns. Yahoo for Spring colors!

I can't agree more - if you've got it, flaunt it should be the next catch phrase for all larger ladies!
